Duration: This temporary assignment is initially for 3 months, and could be extended based on the needs of the business. The successful applicant would ideally live in Hudson's Hope during this time.
Location: Hudson's Hope, BC
Hourly Rate: $150/hour

General Description
• The Maintenance and Reliability Engineer – E6 is a recognized expert in maintenance and reliability and provides innovative engineering solutions for the reliable operations and effective maintenance of equipment for major scope and/or high complexity projects and/or operations safely, with quality, within budget, and on time.
Experience and Role Accountabilities
• A minimum twenty (20) years of engineering experience including significant time working on complex systems in the maintenance and reliability field, or equivalent.
• Develop the maintenance and reliability organizational procedures, methods, and controls to be exercised by acting as a work assignment manager, lead engineer, and/or senior reviewer for work assignments of major scope and/or high complexity for BC Hydro projects and/or operations.
• Build, motivate, mentor, and manage a multi-discipline team by maintaining a high level of technical competency individually and within the team, setting objectives, defining roles, and assigning tasks to successfully complete projects and continuously develop future capability at BC Hydro.
• In addition to the core work, administer the planning, scheduling, cost control, and technical conformance to project objectives to contribute to establishing a consistent Engineering Standards process.
• Plan, organize, and direct all of the maintenance and reliability engineering activities of major and complex work assignments by providing expertise in the application of advanced concepts, principles and methods in the reliability field so that projects are successfully implemented.
• Deliver exceptional customer service by using outstanding written and oral communication skills as well as excellent decision making, conflict resolution, persuasion, and negotiation skills to communicate to senior management complex project issues in a clear and concise manner to support completion of projects safely, with quality, within budget and on time.
• Make decisions and recommendations of a complex nature including the resolution of highly technical and unusual maintenance and reliability engineering challenges in support of major work assignments for the engineering divisions at BC Hydro.
Important notes:
• Prior to commencement on assignment, the selected candidate must have their own sole practitioner, or the use of their firm’s, Permit to Practice with EGBC.
• EGBC Registrants provided to BC Hydro through the CLRA contract shall work under BC Hydro’s Professional Practice Management Plan, Quality Management Pillar. The Registrant shall apply their own or their firm’s Permit to Practice Number to work that is Sealed by the Registrant. Retention and preservation of all project documentation produced by the Registrant during the course of their contract with BC Hydro will be retained by BC Hydro to satisfy EGBC Bylaws.
Education and Skills
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline such as electrical, mechanical, chemical, industrial, civil, or equivalent
• Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Engineers & Geoscientists BC
• BC Hydro uses a Digital Sign and Seal Technology. You may be required to subscribe to a digital seal technology service offered by Notarius
• Expert working knowledge and extensive experience in the following areas:
O Reliability concepts, principles, and methods
O Reliability tools and their application to understand system performance (reliability and availability) and major contributors to system uptime
O Tools including Failure Modes/Effect Analysis (FMEA), Reliability Center Maintenance (RCM), Reliability Block Diagrams (RBD) or Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) and various data analysis techniques.
O Operation, maintenance, and failures of equipment and systems in the power utility industry, oil and gas industry, or heavy industrial environment
O Reading and understanding drawings and manuals to articulate how a system works and how the system can fail and what needs to be done to prevent failures either from a design or an effective maintenance standpoint
O Various types of predictive and condition-based maintenance technologies and their application
O Taking equipment apart and reassembling it
• Demonstrated ability to use Root Cause Analysis (RCA) as a method of problem solving to identify root causes of faults or problems
• Project management experience.
• Intermediate knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
• Experience in applying reliability tools through asset life cycle
• Intermediate MS Office skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
• Intermediate English skills for professional environment, written and spoken
Must haves:
-P. ENG and P2P in BC
-Manager is looking for a mechanical or electrical engineer
-For max bill rate submissions, minimum 12 years of experience
-Willing to relocate to Hudson's hope for 3 months
-Expert level of knowledge of Hydro Electric Power plant operation maintenance
