Payroll Administrator - Shared Services

Job Summary
As part of the Shared Services team, the Payroll Administrator will be responsible for accurate and timely payroll processing and postings for all payroll related activities for North American and international employees within the Redpath Group.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Accurately process semi-monthly payroll for multiple business units' hourly and salaried employees
- Process and validate payroll expenses, deductions, garnishments and adjustments and perform entries into company payroll system
- Process year end reporting, including T4's, RL-1, vacation accrual, adjustments, etc.
- Prepare and process payroll journal entries, request payments for source deductions, and reconciliations
- Process semi-annual special payment processing and off-cycle payroll runs, as required
- Work in conjunction with Human Resources in the processing of new hires, rehires, transfers, terminations, employee benefits, etc.
- Export, validate, balance and import hours from timekeeping systems into payroll system
- Maintenance and renewals for Retirement Savings, Pensions and 401(k) plans, including matching calculations
- Ensure proper internal controls, system standards, policies, financial controls and audit requirements are met, monitored and maintained
- Participating in projects and other ad hoc duties as required
Qualifications:
Education:
* Post-secondary education in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources or related disciplines
* Preferred - Active member with the Canadian Payroll Association and holds a PCP or CPM designation
Work Experience
- Minimum 3 years' experience in processing high-volume payroll in multiple provinces/ state or internationally
- Experience in Canadian payroll taxation, benefits/deductions, garnishments and reporting
- Experience in US payroll practices including processing, policy and legislative items for multiple states
- Experience in a high volume, multi-entity, payroll shared service-based environment
- Experience working on ADP software and experience in ERP systems (JDE preferred)
- Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-changing and dynamic environment with evolving systems and procedures
Knowledge Required
- Solid understanding of payroll processes and relevant legislation, source deduction and government remittance procedures
- Self-starter, works well with minimum supervision
- Proven ability to prioritize, set, and meet deadlines while working under tight constraints and a strong ability to manage multiple tasks to completion at the same time
