Senior Project Design Engineer - Electrical Energy
Location: Ottawa, ON
Mission
Currently looking for a Senior Design Engineer with proven experience in high and medium voltage station. As a Senior Engineer the candidate will serve as Technical Team Leader for engineering mandates in the Energy Electrical Engineering department. As part of the Ottawa energy team, in addition of working on high and medium voltage Utility project the candidate will have the opportunity of working on renewable project like: Solar PV and Wind systems, Battery energy storage and microgrids; industrial & manufacturing energy programs and transportation electrification projects; etc.
The successful candidate shall demonstrate the practical CAD skill to create clear and consistent drawing packages. It is expected for the engineer to have a hands-on approach to the design process as well to mentor Junior and Intermediate Engineers, technicians and drafters.
Responsibilities:
- Assume the responsibilities of Project Technical Lead, which involves, design and coordination of power engineering deliverable from conceptual design through detail including: analysis; equipment sizing and specifications; electrical design; and physical design
- Assume the responsibilities of Project Engineer, that all assigned deliverables are produced in compliance with quality requirements, on time and on budget
- Mentor Intermediate and junior member of the team by providing technical support and design review
- Support documentation process for projects including technical specifications, tender documents, technical reports and project calculations
- Conduct site visits to define project scope and collect design input, as required during design, as well as to supervise construction progress
- Maintain drafting processes and procedures to follow and apply commonly used drafting concepts, practices, procedures and policies within the industry
- Participate in a variety of project activities including project coordination, strategic planning, client support and interaction, business analysis, supporting business development and project management departments
- Interface with other design disciplines, coordinate with related stakeholders, and assist team leads and managers
Profile
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PEO and OIQ License)
- 15+ years relevant experience
- Knowledge of the Canadian Electrical code, ANSI, IEC, NEMA and other related design standards
- Excellent computer skills
- Experience with AutoCAD
- Experience with 3D software an asset
- Experience with Excel, Word, and MS Project
- Valid driver's license with an insurable record
