Role: Senior Distribution Design Drafter (RTO - Real-Time Operations)
Location: Langley, BC
Work Schedule: 3 to 4 days in office per week
Contract Duration: August 26, 2024 - February 25, 2025
Rates:
- T4 Rate: $31.35
- INC Rate: $37.93
Overview:
We are seeking two Senior-level Distribution Design Drafters with expertise in Real-Time Operations (RTO). The Drafters will assist in RTO's needs, focusing on mimics and the Distribution Plant Alteration process.
Key Responsibilities:

Drafting & Design:
- Create and revise complex drawings, including Distribution Operate Diagrams (DOD), Underground Distribution Diagrams (UDD), and Primary Maps.
- Calculate dimensions, elevations, slopes, and scales to produce clear, accurate drawings.
- Support engineering works by creating and managing drawings using GIS and computer-aided design (CAD) systems.

Technical Support:
- Complete technical drafting-related tasks, including producing graphs, maps, diagrams, and profiles.
- Prepare materials and drawing lists, and perform basic survey tasks in line with engineering standards.
- Support the procurement process by creating and revising drawings for tendering to vendors.
- Resolve drafting issues by conducting independent research on equipment specifications, related drawings, and engineering standards.
- Organize and maintain drawings using a drawing management system to ensure security and accessibility.

Project Coordination:
- Prepare drafting work for RTO operators/schedulers and coordinate the Plant Alteration (PA) process.
- Review and verify PA designs for accuracy and completeness, recommending approval where appropriate.
- Work closely with various design offices, contractors, schedulers, and operators to ensure designs are complete and meet RTO process requirements.
- Participate in project work related to load transfers, cutovers, feeder cable designs, voltage conversion, and other distribution plant projects.

Field Work:
- Perform occasional field duties, including field surveys, project site visits, and audits of overhead and underground distribution plants.

System & Application Support:
- Utilize manual and computer-assisted drafting systems to develop, produce, and update a full range of drawings and maps.
- Perform operating functions for computer-assisted drafting systems, maintain workstations, back up files, and operate plotters, printers, and reproduction equipment.
- Support process development and application for upcoming ADMS projects.
Required Experience & Skills:

Experience:
- Minimum of 8+ years of experience in Distribution Design and project work.
- Proven ability to lead complex designs for multi-phase projects involving distribution assets.

Technical Skills:
- Advanced proficiency in GIS drafting, CAD systems, and drafting management software.
- Strong knowledge of electrical fundamentals, especially in distribution systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and SharePoint for updating records, lists, and correspondence.
- Ability to draft various drawings, including schematic, one-line, and operating drawings.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational, coordination, and presentation skills.
- Ability to perform minor maintenance on drafting equipment and software.
- Valid driver's license and ability to drive a vehicle.
Education:
- Diploma:
- Two-year diploma in GIS drafting or equivalent from an accredited post-secondary institution.
- Certifications:
- PMP certification would be an asset.
Working Conditions:
- Primarily office-based with occasional fieldwork.
- Working with detailed drawings using computer-assisted drafting equipment and GIS systems.
