Your Role
The Production Planner is responsible for planning, scheduling and coordinating production cycle activities to meet operational requirements and delivery commitments, ensuring the availability of required raw materials, manpower and equipment. The role will work with the various functional groups (Sales, Engineering, Procurement and Manufacturing) to resolve issues affecting the production cycle and delivery commitments. The role has responsibility for purchasing under the strict guidelines of the Quality Management System and is based in the Kelowna office.
- Brief description for everyday tasks:
Prepare a rolling 12-24 month Master Production Plan for assigned products.
Analyse sales requirements to determine manufacturing labour and parts/materials requirements.
Prepare and maintain various other inventory and production capacity planning reports as required and requested by management.
Support SIOP (Sales Inventory Operations Planning) process meetings to review service levels, performance against plan, inventory strategy, supply plan to meet demand and resource implications.
Update Master Production Plan as required.
Monitor actual performance against Master Production Plan.
Provide timely reporting of Key Metric Indicators (KPI's).
Prepare and update product lead time and stock level report, providing promised delivery dates for customer orders.
Proactively communicate changes in product availability that may affect promised delivery dates to ensure a high level of customer service.
Plan and recommend work flow according to previously established sequences and lead times.
Coordinate, monitor and expedite the movement of parts, supplies and materials to ensure products are shipped and received on schedule.
Make scheduling recommendations to compensate for rush order priorities, material shortages, vendor delivery failures and/or changes in customer priorities.
Expedite operations that delay schedules and change schedules to meet unforeseen conditions. Coordinate backordered parts lists to expedite and secure shipping dates.
Act as a liaison between production, purchasing, shipping, receiving and management to procure materials and ensure a smooth flow of production.
Advise management of the status of work in progress, material availability and routine production problems to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials and services are provided as needed.
Utilize lean principles to identify and initiate improvements.
Purchase products, raw materials and services as required, ensuring approval processes are followed.
Candidate Must Have’s:
- At least 2 years relevant experience working with inventory and supply chain
- Experience working with MRP systems
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PPT)
- Understanding of inventory control and supply chain systems and their impact on planning
- Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate ideas clearly and effectively to diverse audiences, capable of capturing key points during discussions and summarizing them accurately. This will make you stand out:
- Experience in planning in a manufacturing environment
- Experience working in Dynamics Nav
- Proficient in Visual Basic and Power BI
- College diploma in Operations or Supply Chain Management or working towards a professional supply chain certification (ASCM, APICS, SCMP)
The salary range for this role is $65,000 - $75,000 CAD. The range posted is a guide and may not represent the compensation offered to the successful candidate. Compensation is based on the skills, knowledge, experience and qualifications brought to the role.
