Our client a leader in the Aviation industry is seeking a Staff Simulation Project Engineer for their Montreal, QC locality.
Responsibilities:
- Operating within an Agile/Scrum environment and serving as a Simulation Product Owner.
- Collaborating with the Simulation Department Manager and Simulation Group Leaders to ensure the department is adequately resourced to meet technical, budgetary, and schedule objectives for the program.
- Providing technical guidance and oversight for the development, integration, acceptance, certification, and maintenance of aircraft and/or ground/control simulations used for various purposes across the enterprise.
- Defining simulation program/project plans.
- Taking accountability for the successful execution of simulation program/project plans.
- Monitoring the execution of simulation program/project plans, reporting on progress and risks regularly.
- Defining and managing simulation requirements.
- Collaborating with the Simulation Department Manager and Simulation Group Leaders to define and manage simulation product roadmaps and backlogs.
- Assisting in the establishment and management of departmental budgets and schedules.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, you should meet the following qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in managing the development of complex simulations, preferably in a real-time simulation environment.
- Experience in managing the development of Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) simulations, test environments, and test assets.
- Proficiency in modeling, stimulation, and/or integration of various aspects of complex aerospace simulation, including Aircraft Avionics, Aircraft Systems, Aircraft Flight Dynamics, Command and Control (C2) links, Air Traffic Control Systems, Communication Systems, and GPS/Navigation Systems.
- Experience in roles such as Project/Program Engineer, Project/Program Manager, Technical Lead, or Group Leader.
- Proficiency in software development, preferably using C/C++, Python, Matlab/Simulink.
- Experience in managing the development of software-centric products, preferably in the aerospace industry.
- Familiarity with Requirements Management practices and tools (e.g., DOORS, Polarian, JIRA, etc.).
- Familiarity with Project Management practices and tools (e.g., PMI/PMBOK, Prince 2, Microsoft Project, Primavera, JIRA, etc.).
- Knowledge of Agile/Scrum management methodologies.
- Familiarity with Earned Value Management (EVM).
- Familiarity with common aircraft communication/avionics protocols such as ARINC 429 and ARINC 664.
- Knowledge of aircraft avionics, aircraft systems, aircraft flight dynamics, and aircraft operations.
