We are currently looking for a Base lead to join our Maintenance team, who will report to the Director, of maintenance.
The Base Lead will oversee the operations at the identified Base. The Base Lead is responsible for the base infrastructure management, the performance of all base employees and base compliance with all applicable TC / DND regulations and policies. The leadership, experience, practical knowledge, and problem-solving skills of the Base Lead will ensure that facilities and employees work in an efficient and safe manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate the work of aircraft maintenance technicians and maintenance support staff assigned to scheduled flying operations
- Ensure that all aircraft maintenance technicians and maintenance support staff adhere to the Company MCPM, Transport Canada regulations, DND regulations, DADS Flight Safety program, DA Defence Health and Safety program and QMS processes
- Ensure availability of TA aircraft to meet, on a daily basis, operational requirements
- Report on a daily basis, to the DoM, the status of the aircraft
- Develop and maintain a Technician Manpower Schedule for local operations
- Publish weekly the Technician Manpower Schedule that reflects the latest operational requirements, with at least two (2) weeks of advance notice, if possible, when travel is required for an aircraft maintenance technician
- Ensure deployment support travel plans are arranged for employees
- Attend bi-weekly operation briefs to review the latest flying schedule and plan for new taskings or changes to existing deployments for optimum use of resource assignments
- Monitor maintenance plans on a regular basis to close all aircraft deferred and minor snags with a reasonable time frame
- Ensure good communication and strong relationships with local Base authorities and coordination teams
- Provide managerial support to the Crew Chiefs
- Ensure EHS protocols are followed through out the base
- Ensure that all RAMCO entries, during flying operations, are made in a timely manner and in accordance with the DADS MCPM
- Closely follow-up on AOG and Critical Logistics requirements and direct alternate plans if required during aircraft maintenance to ensure availability of aircraft to meet Flight Operational requirements on a daily basis
- Approve Overtime requests for flying operations
- Travel as required to MOBs and Deployed Areas of Operations as required by the CATS manpower scheduler or the DoM
- Act as the Maintenance Duty Officer (MDO), after regular working hours, per the CATS manpower scheduler schedule
- Act as the local designated official (DO) for the Controlled Goods Program
- Represent the DoM or PRM in their absence as required
- Support strategic development projects, as required by the DoM or VP, CATS
- Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
- Perform related duties as assigned by the DoM
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
· Minimum three (3) years of experience with flight and maintenance operations;
· Strong leadership skills and the ability to lead a team in a diversified and changing high tempo environment
· Positive, professional attitude, identify and resolve issues proactively with minimal supervision
· Hold a valid Transport Canada M2 license, Hold ACA on Alpha Jet, is an asset
· Knowledge of RAMCO ERP, an asset
· Proven track record to support and lead safe operations: OHS, Flight Safety, procedures, Human Factors etc.
· Good customer service skills
· Good time management and organizational skills
· Knowledge of Airworthiness processes with Transport Canada and DND. Controlled Goods Program, Security Management, ITAR, Military and civilian maintenance. Quality Control an asset;
· General knowledge of business operations and local legislation. Financial Statements and Budgeting an asset;
· Strong communicator who disseminates and obtains information with discretion professionalism and diplomacy.
· Fluent in English language in order to read, understand and interpret manuals, policies and procedures
· Computer Literate: Microsoft and email applications
· Ability to multitask and prioritize competing demands
· Strong Business Acumen (presentations, reports, fact analysis)
