Job Overview
- The System analyst will work under the guidance of OPG IT Managers & EHS Subject Matter Experts for the following work:
- Review data sources required to meet GHG reporting needs for Business (Scope 1 & 2)
- Work with EHS to determine the data required
- Identify the “owners” of the data (internal to OPG and external providers)
- Identify data sources and format and opportunities to change format (e.g. do we get PDFs where an external provider could connect via API or summarize in excel spreadsheet, etc)
- Identify any manipulation of the data done before/during reporting (calculations, etc.)
- Investigate if automation of data collection, extraction, and manipulation/calculations for reports is possible
- Review how data flow between report sources and outputs (e.g. PowerBI, reports, etc) can be improved
- Provide recommendations for optimizing data collection, consolidation, manipulation and reporting
Qualifications
- Must have minimum three years of experience as a systems or business analyst
- Must have experience in data analysis programs that allow for the development of data-driven report
- Must have knowledge of SQL and Microsoft Excel to understand logic used for development of pivot tables, graphs and charts
- Must have knowledge of system integrations & data transfer (e.g. APIs, SFTP middleware use, etc.)
- Must have knowledge of data presentation platforms (e.g. PowerBI)
- Must have strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively relate data to co-workers
- Must have excellent critical thinking skills to help solve business problems and make decisions
- Must have tendency to pay close attention to small details that could impact results
- Must have general knowledge of business operations, objectives, strategies, process and information flow
- Previous experience with OPG systems and processes would be an asset
- Knowledge of Federal and provincial Green House Gas (GHG) reporting requirements would be an asset
