Job Overview
- Contribute to the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the Department as a member of the Department Management Team.
- Develop, implement and maintain computerized systems to provide short, medium and long-range forecasts of project expenditures and manpower requirements.
- Prepare forecast reports for Supervisor to assist in project cost control and the preparation of project and capital budgets.
- Develop, implement and maintain standards, methods and procedures to establish practical and uniform approaches to project planning, scheduling and cost control for Electricity Production. Analyse, evaluate and recommend more effective alternatives to existing standards and procedures as
appropriate.
- Establish and maintain an integrated cosUresource/schedule management information, and provide a service for the planning and control of Electricity Production projects, work, resources and costs.
- Identify and champion the use of project planning and control best practices, especially related to the Electricity Production project portfolio.
- Provide decision support, to the Manager and Director, on matters related to planning and control practices, performance measures, project management systems and 'best industry' practices.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to Electricity Production on project planning, cost control and scheduling practices, as well as on moderately complex projects. Be accountable for ensuring that the advice given is complied with.
- Provide advice and direction, monitor progress, and check work to maintain standards of quality and timeliness. Schedule and authorize overtime and miscellaneous expenses.
- Recommend on staffing requirements and be responsible for job training and development.
- Ensure that policies, practices and agreements are being followed.
- Administer the application of the Collective Agreement as it pertains to staff supervised, and deal with problems arising on a day-to-day basis. Deal directly with union officials, on matters pertaining to hiring, layoff, jurisdiction, discipline while keeping Manager and Human Resources staff informed and involved.
- Review Consultants' estimates to ensure that they appropriately reflect market conditions and that they are consistent with OPG standards and practices.
This role will focus on Construction Project Management as well as Quality Management with duties including governance oversight, continuous improvement, and strategic planning initiatives within the EPMO. This position will play a pivotal role to build and foster efficiency and effectiveness within Governance, Strategic Planning, and compliance with industry and company standards.
Qualifications
- Requires a knowledge of project management and controls subject areas relevant to the project planning, scheduling and control service needs of the division.
- Requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, including relevant business and computer applications knowledge, to develop and maintain computerized project information, costs and forecasts.
- This knowledge is considered to be normally acquired through the completion of Grade XII plus 4 years' further concentrated study in project management and/or business economics as it relates to project and asset management or by having the equivalent level of education.
