Responsibilities:
Carry out field campaigns, including supervision of drilling, and/or excavation, soil and rock description and sampling;
Participate in the planning, follow-up and interpretation of geotechnical investigations;
Describe (composition and structure) and geomechanically classify rock samples;
Participate in design studies (stability, infiltration and deformation analyses of exterior or underground rock walls);
Develop and implement geomechanical instrumentation plans;
Supervise construction sites, involving geological surveys and recommendations relating to stratigraphy, structure, geomechanical classification, underpinning and bolting, etc;
Compile and analyze geotechnical and geomechanical data.
Participate in the preparation of service offers;
Prepare technical reports, plans and specifications under the supervision of a senior engineer;
Communicate with various stakeholders (contractors, subcontractors, customer representatives);
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in geological engineering or geology;
Master's degree in rock mechanics or geomechanics;
Relevant PhD an asset;
Minimum combined work experience in geology, geotechnics and geomechanics of 15 years
Essential experience in rock mechanics monitoring and design;
Essential experience in rock wall instrumentation and auscultation.
Essential knowledge of rock mechanics software (e.g. Rocscience suite);
Experience in characterizing geological environments for gas, hydrocarbon and nuclear waste storage would be an asset;
Experience in characterizing geomaterials for the design of underground structures an asset;
Excellent communication skills (oral and written);
Bilingualism (English-French) an asset;
Ability to work as part of a team.
