Our client is an aircraft manufacturer who also has capabilities that span design, production, maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services.
You will be responsible for leading the design and construction of the new aircraft manufacturing facility and development of its manufacturing and distribution operations. You will also be engaged on various other site development initiatives.
This role ensures that facility infrastructure, layouts, and production processes are fully integrated and capable of supporting efficient, safe, and scalable aerospace manufacturing operations across all areas - from detail part fabrication through final assembly and aircraft testing.
This position bridges the gap between facility readiness and manufacturing industrialization, ensuring that the physical build and operational systems align to deliver a world-class aerospace manufacturing campus.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, construction, and readiness of facilities, including the new aircraft manufacturing facility, ensuring alignment with manufacturing and production requirements.
- Define and validate manufacturing system layouts for detail parts, subassemblies, aerostructures, and final assembly operations.
- Coordinate facility infrastructure (mechanical, electrical, utilities) to support production tooling, equipment, and flow.
- Oversee commissioning and operational handover of all buildings and manufacturing areas.
- Specify production technologies, tooling systems, and automation strategies to enhance efficiency and throughput.
- Develop integrated production flow concepts and facility zoning to support lean aircraft manufacturing.
- Manage relationships with design firms, contractors, and consultants to ensure safety, compliance, and aerospace standards are met.
- Partner with Supply Chain, Engineering, and Operations to align manufacturing readiness with supplier and logistics capabilities.
- Establish budgets, schedules, and performance metrics for both facility and manufacturing system delivery.
- Provide regular governance reporting, risk assessments, and mitigation plans to the Executive Leader.
Proven Ability / Key Skills
- 15+ years proven ability in aerospace manufacturing, industrial project management, or facility design, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Proven success managing large-scale aerospace construction and industrialization projects from concept through commissioning.
- Strong knowledge of aircraft assembly, tooling, aerostructure fabrication, and facility systems integration.
- Proven ability developing manufacturing layouts and flow for new or relocated production operations.
- Exceptional project management, stakeholder communication, and cross-functional leadership skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Industrial Management; P.Eng., PMP, or MBA preferred.
