JOB DESCRIPTION
NPI (New Product Introduction) Manager
Reporting to : Engineering Director
Permanent Position
Salary Range: CA$130K–$150K
Location: North York, ON
The NPI Manager leads the end-to-end process of bringing a new product or an existing product with an obsolete process from design through optimized customer production and final delivery. This includes first article approval, full industrialization, and achieving targeted financial and quality metrics in line with the design intent.
The role is accountable for orchestrating cross-functional teams, managing timelines, budgets, and risks, and ensuring that product launches meet quality, cost, and delivery objectives. Key areas of ownership include project planning, stakeholder communications, issue resolution, driving design-for-manufacturability (DFM), and close collaboration with production partners and the supply chain.
Key Responsibilities
- CNC programming for all machining operations using innovative techniques to ensure a lights-out (closed-door) machining process.
- Develop, innovate, and validate manufacturing processes, ensuring full compliance with regulatory and quality requirements.
- Lead cross-functional teams across design, engineering, quality assurance, marketing, and operations to ensure seamless product introductions.
- Establish timelines and budgets; manage project expenditures; request funding for capital equipment when needed.
- Provide technical leadership during manufacturing-related activities, including quotation stages, ensuring manufacturability and cost-effectiveness.
- Conduct risk assessments, create contingency strategies, and resolve technical issues to avoid schedule impacts.
- Drive continuous improvement through Lean, Six Sigma, and other efficiency and quality methodologies; deliver training on new equipment and processes.
- Provide clear, consistent communication to leadership and stakeholders, including structured project updates.
- Lead the transition of technology and processes to the sustaining production team once the product is ready for full-scale manufacturing.
- Ensure compliance with AS9100, customer quality expectations, and applicable regulatory requirements.

Candidate Skills & Requirements
- 10+ years in aerospace manufacturing in a CNC programming role.
- Strong programming expertise in machine deburring, probing, 3-4-5 axis milling, turn-milling, tool laser measurement setup, Vericut, and SPC monitoring.
- Minimum 5 years of CNC programming experience with Inconel, titanium, or stainless components.
- Solid quality engineering background; strong familiarity with aerospace customer specifications (MTU, GE, PW, etc.).
- In-depth knowledge of cutting technologies for exotic/special materials.
- Strong knowledge of build-to-print manufacturing, including machining, special processes, and assembly.
- Deep knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and data extraction processes.
- Excellent time-management skills with a strong track record of meeting tight deadlines and handling priorities under pressure.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, thorough, accurate, and professional.
- Strong customer-facing skills, able to confidently interact with senior representatives.
- Strong influencing abilities and demonstrated ownership in driving problem resolution to completion.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, written, and listening skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to Health & Safety and 5S standards.
- Strong knowledge of AS9100 and quality management systems.
- Strong understanding of APQP and PPAP requirements for machining processes.
- Advanced blueprint reading skills, including GD&T.
- Good knowledge of CMM programming and advanced metrology tools.
Communication Skills
Internal: Superior verbal and written communication skills; strong presentation abilities.
External: Ability to communicate effectively with customers daily.
Education
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience (aerospace preferred).
- PMP certification is an asset.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt is an asset.
- AS9100 training and knowledge required.
- Export Control / ITAR / Controlled Goods training.
