Operations Controller- permanent role, Fraser Valley, BC
The Operations Controller role is pivotal in supporting the Finance department's management, offering diverse financial services while providing guidance and oversight. Reporting to the Vice President of Finance, this position is integral to various financial functions such as financial planning, management reporting, budgeting, and cost accounting activities.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
- Uphold the organization's culture and values consistently. Financial & Project Management:
- Collaborate with cross-departmental project teams, liaising with leaders in Operations and Programs.
- Oversee revenue recognition for all Company programs using Percentage Completion Accounting Accruals and Earned Value Management systems.
- Manage invoicing for Company programs, including Milestone and Over & Above Invoicing.
- Lead budgeting and forecasting for Company programs.
- Develop financial mechanisms and spreadsheets for budget creation, forecasting, and tracking.
- Maintain robust internal financial controls.
Supervision:
- Supervise Financial Analysts and Budget Analysts.
- Delegate tasks, establish priorities, provide coaching on procedural changes, and troubleshoot issues.
- Ensure compliance with Human Resources safety and security policies and procedures.
- Review work to ensure accuracy of financial information. Other related duties as assigned.
Core Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proficiency in English is essential.
- Strong team player with a passion for collaborative work.
- Proficient in 'Percent Completion Revenue Recognition'.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Aptitude for business systems.
- Ability to meet deadlines with precision and professionalism. Education & Experience:
- Degree in Financial Management.
- Professional Accounting Designation (CPA) required.
- 5+ years of supervisory experience.
- Previous experience with ERP systems.
