Welding Assessor
Job Title: Welding Assessor – Pressure Boundary & ITP Preparation
Location: Pickering, ON – Refurbishment Project
Contract Type: Hourly Contractor
Rate: $70–$80/hour
Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Welding Assessor to support the Pickering Refurbishment Project. The successful candidate will have a solid background in pressure boundary welding, ITP (Inspection Test Plan) preparation, and field-level mechanical support. This role is ideal for professionals with pipefitter-welder or boilermaker welding experience who are highly familiar with work package development and execution in a refurbishment or major maintenance setting.
Key Responsibilities:

Develop and review Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) specific to welding and mechanical activities.

Perform welding assessments and ensure adherence to pressure boundary codes and regulatory requirements.

Support field execution teams with technical guidance on welding-related tasks.

Review and contribute to work package development, ensuring welding specifications and procedures are clearly defined.

Collaborate with mechanical maintainers and supervisors to align work plans with QA/QC expectations (note: this is not a QC role).

Ensure compliance with all relevant safety and quality standards.
Qualifications:

Valid Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) certifications.

Experience with pressure boundary welding standards and procedures (ASME/NBIC knowledge preferred).

Proven hands-on experience as a pipefitter-welder or boilermaker welder in industrial or nuclear settings.

Strong understanding of mechanical maintenance in a heavy industrial or refurbishment environment.

Familiarity with OPG/Nuclear site protocols considered a strong asset.
Additional Assets (Nice to Have):

Experience working at nuclear facilities (e.g., Darlington, Pickering, Bruce).

Knowledge of CSA N285/N286 standards.
