Location: Wilmington, North Carolina (No opportunity for remote)
Hourly Rate: $52 - 85/hour
Shift: Monday - Friday, Days
These roles will be used to support a variety of welding work taking place at GE Hitachi Nuclear related to fuel manufacture, services tooling, and new plants design.
Skills:
Welding Processes ............ Familiarity or expertise in the following welding processes: GTAW and resistance welding. Desirable familiarity with: GMAW, FCAW, SMAW, and LBW.
Code and Standards Knowledge ASME BPVC Section III Division 1 and Section IX, and AWS A2.4 and A3.0. Desirable Code knowledge with: ASME BPV Code Section III Division V, Section VIII Div 1, and AWS D1.1 and D1.6.
Design Support ................. Ability to review a design with welds for application of welding
symbols, conformance to Codes, and make recommendations for joint designs while collaborating in a productive and respectful manner with the responsible engineer to ensure a successful output.
Documentation……………….. Ability to develop process specifications, welding procedures, inspection procedures and weld qualification reports.
Procurement Support………. Provide technical support through Sourcing for fabricator welding
procedure and weld qualification reviews
Materials …………………………… Familiar with the physical and welding metallurgy of austenitic stainless steels. Desirable familiarity with aluminum, carbon steels, low alloy steels and nickel base alloys.
Demonstrates expertise in the following:
Experience analyzing, and solving moderately complex welding problems
Strong oral and written communication skills, including a demonstrated ability to write organized engineering documents
Strong interpersonal and proven leadership skills
Knowledge of welding defects and their causes
Familiar with the physical and welding metallurgy of austenitic stainless steels.
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Welding Engineering or equivalent engineering discipline
3-5 years of Welding Process, Design and Applications experience
Additional Desired Characteristics:
Nuclear Utility Experience: Experience working in the BWR or PWR industry preferred, but not required.
