Business Unit Manager
Reports To: President & CEO
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Business Unit Manager is responsible to lead the long-term success of its Aerospace Business Unit. This is a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing the setup, staffing, and scaling of component production facility in Toronto.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead daily operations to meet production targets as per Business Budget
- Ensure full compliance with safety and environmental protocols.
- Identify and resolve production bottlenecks; assess and address skill gaps.
- Provide hands-on leadership across Quality, Operations, and Engineering functions.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and performance management.
- Lead capital upgrades to drive efficiency and productivity across the overall operations
- Lead Product Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, manufacturing team, scheduling and planning.
- Responsible for achieving budgeted revenue and costs of the Business Unit
- Integrate seamlessly with common shared services such as shipping, logistic and supply chain.
Strategic Leadership:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key external stakeholders including construction teams, government bodies, and third-party vendors.
- Champion a culture of accountability, teamwork, and safety.
- Align operational objectives with company growth strategy and performance goals.
H&S
- Work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), regulations, and internal health and safety policies and procedures
- Help create a healthy work environment by not condoning, participating in or reporting, as you become aware, any harassment, discrimination, gossiping or unfair treatment of anyone
- Report any defective equipment or protective device which could endanger someone
- Report any contravention of the OHSA regulations, or company safety policies and procedures by another employee
- Know, understand and implement safe work practices and procedures
- Attend required safety training programs and apply knowledge gained from these training sessions
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in manufacturing, preferably in mechanical or precision machining environments.
- Minimum 5 years in precision machining
- CNC machining Experience programming
- Minimum 10 years in Aerospace or Defense Industry
- Strong Quality Engineering background
- Strong manufacturing Engineering background
- Proven experience in program launch, similar to start-up
- Experience managing multidisciplinary teams of 20 to 50+ employees.
- Strong knowledge of safety standards and environmental regulations.
- Very good knowledge in CNC machine Maintenance

- Proficient with relevant computer applications including MS Project, MS Excel, Microsoft Access, Visual, etc.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required; advanced degree (MBA) preferred.
- Lean or Six Sigma Certification
