Construction, Project Coordinator
Location: Sudbury, Ontario
Duration: 6 Months to start, ideally brought on full-time permanent after
Hourly Rate: $40 - 50/hour
Per Diem: Yes, paid travel and housing when on-site
Project: Dam Demolition
Shift Schedule: 2 weeks on, 1 weeks off (may change as projects change)
Start Date: ASAP
Responsibilities Include:
- Assists in the project acquisition process
- Review of construction documents, specifications, drawings and scope of work
- Providing necessary project management support
- Daily and monthly project reporting
- Spreadsheet creation, input and management
- Conduct and coordinate site visits with onsite construction managers, supervisors and foremen to monitor the project progress, quality and production
- Liaising with Owner and Engineer or Record regarding onsite activities, progress and changes
- Tracking productivity of daily construction activities by performing necessary analyses
- Identifying possible risks or potential problems and assisting in their resolution while involved in a full range of construction monitoring
- QA reporting (witnessing tests, and verifying their adherence to specifications)
- Tracking deficiencies and work to define corrective action plans and close-out deficiencies
- Chair, attend and participated in meetings including weekly progress meetings and construction management meetings
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree of Diploma in Civil Engineering or a combination of education and industry experience
- Passion for working in the heavy civil construction industry
- Expertise with technical reporting, tracking, monitoring and resolving issues
- Experience in design, development, implementation and maintenance of project plans and corporate manuals
- Experience in QA?QC implementation and management
- Experienced in quality/safety/environmental field compliance auditing
- Strong leadership and training skills
- Positive attitude and flexibility.
- Travel and rotational schedules may be required depending on project requirements
- Committed to health and safety
- Able to switch quickly on multiple project both in the design phase and construction
- Able to build and maintain positive relationships with team members, stakeholders and communicate information effectively
- Experience leading and presenting meetings
- Ability to work in a fast-pace environment
- Strong Microsoft Project scheduling experience (or P6)
- Experience on heavy civil project in the hydroelectric, renewable energy, or transmission/distribution fields preferred
- Ability to travel for extended periods of time is a must
