Data Engineer
- Location: Hybrid- Minimum 1 day in office location Toronto or Tiverton, ON.
- Duration: 12 months
- Pay rate: $50.00- $65.00 per hour/ INC
This is a great opportunity to join a growing engineering, nuclear safety, and technical analysis company providing specialized services to the power generation industry.
This role will focus on designing, building, and managing ETL pipelines in the Azure cloud to enable robust analytics and reporting for internal and client-facing applications. You’ll be part of a small, dedicated team, a great opportunity to work hands-on with impactful projects and develop your technical expertise.
Responsibilities include:
- Design, develop, and maintain ETL pipelines using Azure cloud technologies (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database).
- Manage and optimize SQL-based data workflows for efficient transformation, loading, and extraction of data.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver reliable, scalable solutions.
- Develop and maintain documentation for data flows, pipelines, and architecture.
- Contribute to data automation strategies for analytics and reporting.
- Support and consult with team members and internal users regarding data best practices and technical issues.
Skills/experience include:
- Education: Completed undergraduate or graduate degree (or equivalent diploma/work experience) in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Management, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in data engineering, ETL pipeline development, or related roles.
- SQL: Strong SQL skills, with experience in writing complex queries and optimizing database performance. Attention to detail is very important.
- Azure Cloud: Experience with Azure Data Factory or other Azure data services is highly valued (but not strictly required).
- Programming: Familiarity with TypeScript, React, and C# is a plus.
- Data Integration: Exposure to integrating and transforming data from multiple sources
- Development Tools: Experience with Visual Studio Code and Git for version control.
- Microsoft Technologies: Proficiency in Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to collaborate with peers and multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
Desirable:
- Familiarity with business intelligence: Power BI, reporting tools.
- Experience with Python, .NET or REST APIs.
- Basic knowledge of ORACLE Primavera P6.
