Role: Fire Protection Specialist
Location: Toronto
Job Type: Full-Time Permanent
Salary: $140,000 - $175,000

Responsibilities:
- Provide design solutions and assessments for new, updated and modified fire protection systems, structures and components.
- Performing design/analysis of hydraulic systems.
- Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and leadership to engineers at lower grade levels and/or other technical employees.
- Provide leadership to team on assigned tasks, ensure adherence to project delivery requirements and schedule, provide timely updates on engineering progress.
- Ensure adherence to company quality program.
- Ensure applicable code, standards and regulatory requirements are met.
- Prepare and /or review design documents for Nuclear Power Plants; e.g., Design Calculation, Design Requirements, Assessments, Technical Specifications, Drawings, Bill of Materials, and System Code Classification.
- Prepare and/or review Engineering Quotation Request and Tender Technical Evaluations.
- Perform walkdowns, attend site visits and meetings as required.
- Provide support for the preparation of Engineering proposals.
- Interface with internal and external stake holders as required.
Qualifications:
- Registered as a Professional Engineer in Ontario
- Engineering degree from an accredited University in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering or Engineering Science.
- A minimum of 20 years of experience in fire protection process system design/analysis, preferably providing design solutions for CANDU nuclear power plants or BWR/PWR markets.
- Experience performing work to nuclear power plants procedures and practices and qualifications for nuclear power plants engineering activities.
- Experience in process system design and layout.
- Working knowledge of/experience using fire protection codes and standards, including CSA N293, CSA N393, NFCC, NBCC and NFPA.
- Working knowledge of/experience using nuclear Codes and Standards, including CSA N285.0 and ASME Section III.
- Working knowledge of/experience with the CSA B51 standard, ASME B31.1 codes and other nuclear-power-plant applicable standards or regulatory guides related to permanent plant components, pressure boundary equipment, and/or reactor systems.
- Must have excellent technical and practical skills to resolve engineering issues or technical problems.
- Must have excellent communication and technical writing skills.
- Demonstrate good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Eligible for Security Clearance through Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC).
