Role Summary
The Lead Project Engineer will manage detailed engineering design schedules for ongoing advanced nuclear fuel projects. In this role, you will manage all aspects of scheduling required to support project managers, engineering managers, and overall activities related to project development and execution. You will establish and manage the design and execution schedule interface between all parties involved in the project including engineers, customers, and subcontractors. You will coordinate timely decision making on project technical issues relying on internal technical authorities as necessary. Additionally, you will advocate planning and scheduling best practices to improve project performance.
Essential Responsibilities
- Work with engineering teams to build estimates, schedules, and change orders
- Coordinate technical delivery for the project
- Be accountable for interfaces with multiple engineering disciplines, business project management, partners, subcontractors, and customers
- Define critical technical project issues and ensure their timely resolution
- Analyze critical and near-critical paths to key project objectives. Identify project schedule risks and implement risk mitigation plans.
- Support the detailed scheduling effort for assigned projects within the Oracle Primavera P6 enterprise software following a structured process and project controls requirements
- Manage schedule baselines for assigned projects
- Keep project and engineering management advised of project progress, performance, and resource utilization with particular attention to delays, adverse trends, errors and omissions
- Promptly review Design Change notices, identify change order candidates, segregate cost collection, and assist the Project Manager in pertinent aspects of change order management
- Perform Responsible Configuration Management reviews as required for assigned projects.
- Assist in expediting or processing Purchase Orders and other key documents through Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college (or high school diploma/GED and at least 7 years of experience working in a professional engineering environment)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience planning and/or scheduling engineering projects using Oracle Primavera P6 or similar software

- Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems
- Primavera project scheduling tool experience
- Experience working with Government contracts and contracting requirements
- Experience with Oracle ERP
- Core team located in Wilmington, NC GNF-A facility. Ability and willingness to come to site as required.
