We are the Stations Program team within the Program and Contract Management group of BC Hydro. We deliver a program of Generation, Stations, and Dam Safety projects. We are part of a larger dynamic group of approximately 50 professionals who carry a portfolio of $500M in work and deliver approximately $130M of that work each year.
Work Program Manager responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
• Acts as a project manager for the Stations P&C (Protection and Control) and Telecom portfolio delivering projects on scope and on budget.
• Works with internal teams as well as External Service Providers for timely delivery of the projects.
• Leads and coaches project teams with various experience levels to successfully track and deliver on assigned projects throughout the Province, drawing on internal and external multidisciplinary resources that include Stakeholder Relations, Indigenous Relations, Engineering, Environment, Finance, Regulatory, Properties, Operations, Legal Counsel, Safety, etc.
• Effectively manages and guides project efforts; tracks project progress, adequately anticipates roadblocks, and changes course as needed to achieve team goals; provides appropriate feedback concerning group and individual performance, including areas for improvement.
• Manage multiple activities effectively such as quality assurance, engineering, First Nations and stakeholder engagement, communication, regulatory approvals, procurement, planning and controls, construction management, pre-commissioning, employee relations, and safety by using
project management principles in monitoring progress and establishing standards for implementation to keep the project within allotted time and budget.
• Complete project management activities including scoping, planning, managing, monitoring, and reporting on project tasks by using advanced skills in Microsoft Office as well as project management programs to fulfill BC Hydro’s business needs.
• Initiate contract requests, represent BC Hydro as a Rep Delegate and support project teams to reduce BC Hydro’s exposure to contract claims and participate in contract and claim negotiations with suppliers and contractors.
• Maintain meaningful relationships with stakeholders including customers, engineers and field crews through regular communication using excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills enabling timely progression of projects.
• Establish standards for implementation and monitoring using excellent analytical skills and a comprehensive knowledge of project management practices and procedures to optimize project resources.
