Procurement Manager
About the Role
We’re seeking a Procurement Manager to lead a small purchasing team and drive supplier performance in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This position plays a critical role in vendor management, contract negotiations, and ensuring operational continuity for both equipment and facility needs. Experience handling high purchasing volumes is essential; exposure to CNC or machining environments is an asset.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership
- Lead and develop two Buyers, setting daily priorities and ensuring effective purchasing operations.
- Establish clear procurement processes and maintain accuracy in purchase orders, supplier data, and communications.
Vendor Management
- Manage supplier relationships end-to-end, including selection, onboarding, performance reviews, and issue resolution.
- Monitor supplier delivery, quality, and reliability, driving corrective actions where needed.
- Support production and facility teams by ensuring timely supply of materials, consumables, and services.
Contract Negotiation & Commercial Oversight
- Lead negotiations on pricing, terms, agreements, and service levels.
- Analyze spend and seek cost-reduction opportunities while maintaining quality and reliability.
- Ensure compliance with procurement policies and maintain strong documentation practices.
Equipment & Facility Support
- Oversee procurement of machinery, equipment, tooling, and building-related services.
- Coordinate repairs, maintenance contracts, and service providers to support operational uptime.
- Manage supplier activities related to facility operations, ensuring safe and timely execution.
Operational Execution
- Manage purchasing in a high-volume environment with shifting priorities and tight timelines.
- Partner with production and maintenance teams to prevent supply disruptions.
- Identify risks in the supply chain and take proactive action to mitigate them.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of procurement or purchasing experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Prior leadership experience managing Buyers or a small procurement team.
- Strong vendor management and contract negotiation capabilities.
- Experience handling high-volume purchasing workflows.
- CNC or machining industry experience is an advantage but not required.
- Solid communication and relationship-building skills across suppliers and internal teams.
- Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems is preferred.
