Job Summary
Cameco is seeking a skilled and driven Project Engineer to join our Technical Services team. This role is focused on the execution of sustaining capital projects, primarily at our Cigar Lake and Rabbit Lake sites, with potential support for other operations. The successful candidate will lead multidisciplinary engineering efforts, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with corporate objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership Technical Oversight Serve as the technical lead during the design phase and primary contact for technical inquiries during construction and commissioning.
Manage engineering scope, schedule, and budget in alignment with overall project goals.
Coordinate and provide technical oversight for work carried out with external consultants; serve as engineering leader on work executed using internal resources Engage with stakeholders across departments and site teams to align project objectives and expectations.
Coordinate and lead design reviews with site personnel and other key stakeholders to ensure alignment and feasibility.
Engineering & Design Coordination
Lead and support engineers and designers across disciplines to produce project deliverables.
Support procurement activities including tender document preparation, proposal evaluation, and post-award technical guidance.
Contribute to planning and funding requests with detailed engineering estimates and material takeoffs.
Project Execution & Monitoring
Monitor project progress and provide regular reporting on engineering activities.
Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and safety regulations.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues throughout the project lifecycle.
Education & Certification
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Process, or related Engineering discipline.
Professional Engineering registered with APEGS.
Experience
4-9 years of engineering experience, preferably in industrial or mining environments.
Proven track record in managing engineering components of capital projects.
Proven experience of working a project-based environment.
Skills & Attributes
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Proficiency in engineering design and project management is an asset.
Ability to work collaboratively across teams and locations.
