This role will be to support major refurbishment projects at Cernavoda Nuclear Generating Station in Romania. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and monitoring project activities for large refurbishment projects and will interface closely with the client and 3rd party contractors.
General Accountabilities
- Provide support to the Head of Project Management and Budget Control
- Substantiating the annual budget, drawing up the multiannual budget forecast, and tracking budget execution for the refurbishment project
- Monitor and report actual costs in comparison to planned costs, and implement corrective actions as necessary to maintain budget
- Ensure sufficient project cost, planning, and scheduling resources are in place to execute work
- Implementation of project control procedures and offer ways to improve existing systems
- Timely identification, notification, resolution, and recording of deviations from agreed/baseline plan including trending on items that have potential for future impact within project scope
- Liaise with Heads of Programs and project managers to ensure that schedule, budget allocation, and resourcing requirements are clearly understood across all relevant project areas
- Review cost control and financial reporting procedures, assess their effectiveness, and recommend changes or improvements as necessary
- Provide advice, guidance, recommendations, and assistance to project management in assessing projects, reporting, cost benefit analysis, and cost allocation
Selection Criteria
- A Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) is preferred in Engineering
- Project Management Professional (PMP) would be an asset
- Direct involvement in a CANDU Refurbishment Project/Organization will be an advantage
- 10 years relevant experience, with a minimum of 5 years of experience working with CANDU Nuclear Power Plants
- Comprehensive understanding of CANDU technology and operations
- Demonstrated capability to manage and lead
- Demonstrated ability to deliver high quality products under tight timelines and high pressure to support unit restart schedules
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain excellent client relationships
- Excellent problem-solving skills and experience in leading technical projects to successful conclusions
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and have demonstrated a high commitment to quality
- Drives results at all levels
- High sense of personal accountability
- Romanian Language proficiency would be beneficial, but is not a requirement
This role requires full-time relocation to Cernavoda, Romania for an extended duration. The successful candidate must have a willingness to relocate to Romania for project execution.
