Job Description
The Senior Equipment Integration Specialist will join the Engineering Management practice within the Technical Professional Organization (TPO) of the Engineering Services division. The Senior Equipment Integration Specialist will play a lead role in the delivery of engineering services on large and complex projects within the defence market portfolio.
Reporting to the Director of Operations of the Engineering Management practice, the Senior Equipment Integration Specialist will provide advanced technical leadership in the design, evaluation, and lifecycle management of projects related to military equipment and systems. You will support the growth of the Defence Portfolio by working closely with clients such as the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) and other defence partners to ensure operational readiness, safety, and innovation in equipment engineering.
In addition to these responsibilities, this role requires a professional who can bridge equipment integration with infrastructure readiness, confidently interface with defence stakeholders, and represent engineering leadership in multi-year modernization and sustainment programs. The organization is seeking a senior practitioner capable of shaping technical strategy, strengthening client relationships, and contributing to business growth across the defence sector.

Your Role Within the Team
Technical Expertise:
- Lead engineering assessments, design reviews, and performance evaluations of military equipment including vehicles, weapons systems, sensors, and support equipment.
- Lead acceptance testing, system performance validation, environmental/EMI considerations, and integration with supporting infrastructure (airfield, naval, land).
- Operate comfortably at the intersection of equipment requirements, systems integration, and infrastructure compatibility.
Lifecycle Management:
- Oversee the acquisition, integration, maintenance, and disposal of defence equipment in accordance with DND policies and NATO standards.
- Support configuration management, obsolescence strategy, and in-service support (ISS/ILS) frameworks as used in DND/CAF programs.
Engineering Support:
- Provide expert input on equipment specifications, testing protocols, and failure analysis.
- Contribute to risk assessments, hazard logs, engineering governance, quality gates, and design assurance processes.
Project Leadership:
- Manage multidisciplinary teams on equipment modernization and sustainment projects.
- Provide strong program oversight aligned with DND/CAF project delivery frameworks and multi-stakeholder defence environments.
Compliance & Safety:
- Ensure all engineering activities comply with Canadian defence regulations, safety standards, and environmental requirements.
- Support ITAR, CGP, and defence export-control compliance where required.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Work closely with DND, CAF, OEMs, and allied defence organizations to align engineering solutions with mission needs.
- Engage confidently with senior defence leaders, OEMs, and prime integrators, representing engineering decisions with credibility and clarity.
Market Growth:
- Collaborate with market leaders to grow the company’s portfolio within the defence market.
- Identify capability opportunities and support pursuit strategies related to air, naval, and joint-domain engineering programs.
Business Development:
- Evaluate business opportunities in collaboration with market leads and participate in business development activities.
- Lead or collaborate in the preparation and review of proposals with the Market and Proposal Management teams.
- Engage with clients, seek commercial opportunities, and guide your team in delivering exceptional service.
- Support capture strategy, SOW development, costing, risk frameworks, and client-facing technical presentations.

The Ideal Candidate
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or Systems Engineering.
- 10+ years of experience in equipment engineering, with at least 5 years in a defence or military context.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Canada.
- Experience with defence procurement, equipment trials, and technical risk assessments.
- Eligible for Secret (Level II) or Top Secret (Level III) security clearance.
- Familiarity with Canadian Forces Technical Orders (CFTOs), NATO STANAGs, and DND engineering frameworks.
- Experience with digital engineering tools (e.g., CAD, PLM, FEA).
- Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- This position requires proficiency in English, as it involves collaboration with national and international teams.
- 8–20+ years overall experience in defence engineering (air, naval, land, or joint).
- Direct experience with DND/CAF procurement processes (SORs, SRCLs, TEMEs).
- Understanding of in-service support, modernization cycles, and in-life engineering frameworks.
- Ability to represent engineering to senior military stakeholders with authority and confidence.
- Commercial maturity, client engagement strength, and demonstrated ability to support business capture.
- Experience delivering airfield upgrades, naval facilities support, hangar/shore integration, or similar defence-infrastructure-linked programs.
