Job Title: Senior Mechanical Designer
Location: Hanford, WA (No Remote Work)
Schedule: Full-Time (9/80 schedule, offering every other Friday off)
Position Summary:
As a Senior Mechanical Designer, you will be part of the Mechanical Handling team responsible for designing material handling equipment, treatment and vitrification systems, and supporting utilities. Your role includes creating 3D Models, detail drawings, design proposal drawings, and simulations. The ideal candidate has experience in mechanical handling or equipment procurement and will collaborate with other engineering disciplines and the client during the design phase.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with engineers to gather requirements for new or existing mechanical designs.
Utilize CAD software (Solidworks, Microstation, IGRIP) to produce drawings and models aligning with design specifications.
Ensure designs adhere to company regulations and client standards.
Support equipment procurement by developing procurement packages, evaluating vendor quotations, and addressing technical issues.
Review vendor submittals and resolve technical matters during equipment procurement.
Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment that encourages openness, trust, and teamwork.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree (BS) in Mechanical, Mechanical Technology, Chemical, or Nuclear Engineering from an accredited institution.
6 years of related experience.
Minimum Qualifications:
Proficiency in CAD software (2-D and 3-D).
Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite.
Knowledge of relevant industry regulations and codes.
Ability to prepare standard discipline deliverables, budgets, and schedules.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Engineer-in-training (or equivalent) certification in Mechanical, Chemical, or Nuclear Engineering.
Experience in equipment design analysis in DOE or commercial nuclear facilities.
