Job Title: Senior Software Analyst in Testing
This is a TESTING ROLE - Testing will get more and more automated - they need to understand how to script stuff, a background of coding would help.
Job Summary
The Senior Software Analyst in Testing is responsible for ensuring the quality of software delivery for large scale rail signalling projects. The candidate will work with other software developers and systems engineers to create, execute and evaluate in house software tests and test plans. As senior member of the team, the role will involve technical leadership and mentoring of junior testers. As part of the software delivery team the candidate will gain experience in rail signalling and CBTC, and develop a deep understanding of both the signalling systems and rail operation.
The ideal candidate will process knowledge and skills in software testing and development. A proactive mind set and desire to make a difference will be key to the success of the role.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Technical:
- Performs analysis of system, subsystem and software requirements to define validation methods, and test cases
- Develops and maintains test plans, procedures and test cases. Prepares test reports for pass and fail status of tests and identify root cause of failures reported during testing
- Development of test automation
- Investigates test anomalies through analysis of data files, design documentation and cooperation with project team members
- Conduct operational and stress-test (bust-it) scenarios
- Conduct testing in laboratory environment and on desktop simulation environment
- Effectively communicate test observation and results to engineering staff, supervisors and customers
- Adhere to the company's Processes and Work Instructions
- Acquires product knowledge through active participation in formal, and on the job training, as well as self-study
Non-Technical:
- Work on several projects consecutively and demonstrate ability to deliver on time and on-budget
- Work effectively cross functional teams and build long term working relationship with others
- Coach and train junior team members.
- Work independently, planning, prioritizing and scheduling own work
- Continuously seek and propose improvements to methods and processes utilized for testing
Safety:
- Promote a safety culture where product safety is paramount
- Ensure that safety is built into the test strategy by early identification and resolution of safety related defects
Qualifications:
Education:
· Sc. in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering/Computer Engineering
Work Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of relevant software testing or development experience
Knowledge and Skills Required:
- Working knowledge of C, C++, Perl, or Python
- Strong planning and organization skills.
- Strong technical writing and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated fluency and understanding/comprehension in oral and written English
- Experience with modern software development methodology, processes, and tools (Agile, SCRUM, DevOps)
- Office software tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Extensive testing experience - Specifically for embedded system
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred attributes for the position, which are not required in the minimum qualifications (e.g., master degree)
- Experience working in regulated industries: rail signaling, aerospace, or medical systems
- Experience with real time systems and embedded system testing
- Knowledge of TCP/IP, UDP, wireless communication (802.11, LTE).
- Knowledge or rail signaling and CBTC systems
Additional Information/benefits:
- Hybrid - once per week but flexible as needed
