Job Overview:
- Sr. Information Systems Analyst to support for enterprise information management systems projects in partnership with IT Projects.
- Includes working with LOBs to define information technology requirements to meet their business needs. Assess, provide, and support all but the most complex information technology systems and products and related services to fulfill their business needs. Participate in the design, development and maintenance of business process programs and associated methods and documentation. Within the terms of reference and context provided by the Supervisor, provide staff specialist expertise in the areas of management systems, cyber security, infrastructure and process design and improvements consistent with business strategy, policy, and programs. Initiate reviews and reports, and evaluate proposals to improve business processes and their integration.
- Prepare test plans and review test results for efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance with user requirements. Arrange for installation and commissioning of products and provision of related services. Prepare and maintain test data. Perform evaluation tests. Analyze and report test results and observations.
- Act as a high-level technical resource to staff to help them work effectively and solve problems that arise. Provide technical notes and guidelines on selection, acquisition, migration, usage and application of all but the most complex information technology products and related services. Provide product and product usage and application assistance and problem resolution services.
- Provide consultative services and specialized expertise in information-technology areas to assist users in defining and documenting functional requirements, data requirements, cyber security requirements, and operational constraints related to potential information technology solutions for simple to complex problems. Define alternative solutions, within corporate architectures including options to make or buy, and to replace or modify. Analyze alternative solutions by identifying and estimating life-cycle costs and by assisting users to identify and quantify benefits.
- Make effective recommendations to clients to change their business processes and work methods in order to use information technology more effectively. Prepare recommendations and business-case documentation to support the preferred alternatives. Review recommendations with other departments in the division. Conduct or participate in technical and economic studies requiring expert knowledge related to information technology services, methodologies, techniques, standards and tools. Propose strategies for exploiting new technologies and techniques. For complex problems, assist in the above activities
- Develop and review requirements and solution proposals with users and other information-technology departments. Recommend the solution to be accepted taking into account the need for interfaces with other systems, architectural standards, and cyber security requirements. Estimate costs and schedules to implement where appropriate. Review design with users and other departments. Review test procedures and test results with users in order to verify compliance with user requirements. Assist in the above activities for complex systems. Determine level of auditing, controls, backup, and cyber security procedures to be applied. Develop test plans and procedures. Conduct post-implementation reviews with users.
- Participate in the design, development and maintenance of business process programs and associated methods and documentation utilizing various software system applications and tools. Work with internal departments and other divisions, customer groups and stakeholder representatives, relative to business process design and integration. Provide consulting, planning and support services to business units and functions to enable the redesign and improvement of business processes. Utilize liaison/negotiation skills in this area to resolve discrepancies and overlaps between separate business units
- Prepare and coordinate the preparation of all information pertinent to an assigned project required for input to the planning process and/or alternative to be considered. Prepare and coordinate the preparation of project assessment reports. Visit various site locations, manufacturers, suppliers, and the like as required to support assigned project or initiative duties.
Qualifications:
- Requires a thorough knowledge of business principles and processes to provide business consulting and project services to enable the redesign and improvement of processes.
- Requires an excellent knowledge of information technology and systems to manage information technology system projects, provide consulting and support services, provide strategic planning and consultation on information assets, technology and systems, and to develop policies, strategies and plans for managing information and information technology.
- Requires knowledge on Project Management methodologies, techniques, and processes.
- Requires knowledge of the principles of business methods, business processes, procedure development, organizational structure, and change management theories to ensure effective and efficient program implementation.
- Requires knowledge of English, both in oral and written form, to effectively prepare concise, clearly understandable reviews, presentations, correspondence, process descriptions, procedures, guides and reports, and to communicate effectively with others.
- This level of knowledge is normally acquired by successful completion of a four-year university degree in business administration or computer science, or by having the equivalent level of education.
- Experience and direct involvement with providing sustainment or project support for OpenText Documentum and/or ABB-Hitachi Asset Suite is critical to the role.
