Job Title: Electrical Engineer – Nuclear Power
Location: Pickering, Ontario (100% On-Site, Monday to Friday)
Duration: 12 month contract
Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Electrical Engineer to support ongoing operations and projects at a nuclear power generating station in Pickering. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining and improving electrical systems within a highly regulated and safety-focused environment. This is a full-time, on-site position, requiring presence at the station five days per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical expertise for the maintenance, design, modification, and troubleshooting of electrical systems within the nuclear facility.
- Support safe and compliant operation of electrical infrastructure, including transformers, switchgear, protection and control systems, and power distribution networks.
- Prepare and review engineering documentation including specifications, drawings, and calculations.
- Participate in root cause analysis, equipment failure investigations, and corrective action implementation.
- Support outage planning, execution, and post-outage assessments.
- Ensure all work complies with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulatory requirements.
- Interface with operations, maintenance, regulatory, and safety personnel to support plant needs.
- Participate in field walkdowns, system health evaluations, and risk assessments.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and engineering best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in Ontario is preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of electrical engineering experience, with nuclear industry experience required (CANDU experience is an asset).
- Strong understanding of electrical distribution systems, protection and control systems, and regulatory compliance in a nuclear environment.
- Knowledge of industry codes and standards (e.g., CSA N290, IEEE, CSA C22).
- Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
- Comfortable working in a high-security, safety-critical, and team-oriented environment.
Additional Requirements:
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain nuclear security clearance.
- Access to personal transportation is preferred due to site access protocols.
