Job Overview
Provide technical expertise in the area of OPG Operations, Maintenance and Radiation Protection to perform SCR screening and dispositioning.
Perform SCR reviews to identify trends, complete Validation of Trend exercises to quantify cognitive trends.
Complete Apparent Cause Evaluations related to events within and/or affecting Operations and Maintenance workgroups.
Develop Corrective Action Plans to address Apparent Causes with a goal of recurrence control.
Perform Evaluating Organization Effectiveness Reviews (EOERs) to determine the effectiveness of recurrence control actions.
Take part in Self Assessments as a team member or leader to evaluate various aspects of Operations and Maintenance programs, including the development of action plans to address identified gaps.
Prepare and present reports as required related to various aspects of Operations, Maintenance and Radiation Protection work programs.
Attend Screening, Management Review and other departmental meetings as required, providing input and taking away follow-upactions from these meetings.
Meet all deliverables and TCDs for projects assigned to them.
Maintain an awareness of current plant operating conditions and professional competency.
Provide support to the Operations and Maintenance work groups on an ad hoc basis based on identified needs.
Qualifications
Requires a good knowledge of nuclear station policies and principles, hazards and constraints.
Requires a good knowledge of operating systems and equipment, regulations and guidelines, operations and maintenance methods and techniques required to safely and efficiently operate and maintain a nuclear power facility in order to identify and resolve trends and event causal factors.
Requires good written and oral communication skills to prepare reports, information to provide advice, guidance and technical expertise.
Requires good planning and work management skills.
Requires good knowledge of the processes related to operating and maintaining a Nuclear Power Station.
This knowledge is considered to be normally acquired through the completion of Grade XII plus 2 years further concentrated study in maintenance or operation disciplines.
Demonstrated ability to work well with other work groups and a willingness to accept and respond to constructive criticism.
Experience with the Ontario Power Generation Corrective Action Program is required.
Experience with Ontario Power Generation specific software is required (SCR, OCRSA, Asset Suite, ESM).
Experience includes work practices and techniques associated with the operations and maintenance of nuclear plant facilities.
A period of over 2 years is considered necessary to gain this experience.
