Experience and Role Accountabilities
• A minimum nine (9) years of project management experience or equivalent.
•Plan, direct, and report on infrastructure and other construction project activities by consistently monitoring project benefits, resources and status and creating documents such as project plans, action logs, communication plans, status reports and post implementation reviews so that the project is implemented as planned.
• Develop project plans and risk management plans for medium to high risk and highly complex infrastructure or other construction projects with a capital cost that is generally up to $50 million for effective management throughout the project lifecycle.
• Manage multiple activities effectively such as quality assurance, engineering, First Nations and stakeholder engagement, communication, regulatory approvals, procurement, planning and controls, construction management, pre-commissioning, employee relations, and safety by using project management principles in monitoring progress and establishing standards for implementation to keep the project within allotted time and budget.
• Complete project management activities including scoping, planning, managing, monitoring, and reporting on project tasks by using advanced skills in Microsoft Office as well as project management programs to fulfill BC Hydro’s business needs.
• Maintain meaningful relationships with stakeholders including customers, engineers and field crews through regular communication using excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills enabling timely progression of projects.
• Establish standards for implementation and monitoring using excellent analytical skills and a comprehensive knowledge of project management practices and procedures to optimize project resources.
Education and Skills
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Economics or related discipline
• Bachelor’s degree Engineering, an asset
•Project Management Professional (PMP®) designation, preferred
• Advanced MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project)
• Advanced English skills for professional environment, written and spoken
You’ll be involved in growth or sustainment projects to increase capacity or reliability and safety. You’ll also handle large and complex Major Customer projects. You’ll manage energy-based Distribution Independent Power Producers projects and End of Life, MoTI Relocations, Transmission Line Relocations, Shared Assets, and Interconnection Projects. Scope of work:
* You are a proactive and adaptable project professional who enjoys working on diverse and challenging projects to improve the power system. You also have a passion for excellence and innovation, and you can collaborate effectively with engineers, designers, project managers and construction managers to deliver high-quality projects.
* Act as a project manager for a portfolio of multiple projects with medium to high impact/ complexity.
* Develop, monitor and manage project plans, including scope, budget, and schedule in order to accomplish project objectives.
* Review work in progress and assess completed work for accuracy, required results and quality assurance.
* Often act as Project Manager for projects being delivered by External Service Providers who support our Engineering and Project delivery.
* Effectively manage and guide team efforts; tracks team progress, adequately anticipates roadblocks, and changes course as needed to achieve team goals; provides appropriate feedback concerning group and individual performance, including areas for improvement.

* Select and adjust the delivery and/ or contracting model used within projects to ensure smooth delivery of work.

Must haves:
* Intermediate technical knowledge in a specific utility-related field (i.e. Engineering, Technical, Trade, Business or Sciences) with some general knowledge of other fields.
* Solid written and oral communication skills with an ability to explain challenging technical issues to a technical and non[1]technical audience.
* Demonstrated experience interacting with permitting agencies and engaging effectively with a range of stakeholder groups.
* Keen grasp and ability to describe project management fundamentals.
* Ability and experience effectively managing multi-disciplinary staff and consultant project teams and engaging constructively with external contractors.
* Ability to detect, manage, mitigate and report project risks.
* Ability to manage a demanding work load and evaluate priorities on a daily basis according to risks.
Here are some nice-to-haves that might set you apart.
* Knowledge of BC Hydro's business goals and corporate objectives and understanding of BCH’s utility construction/ operation business.
* Skill, experience, and certification in different project delivery models from: procurement, contracting, negotiation, leadership, facilitation, reporting, forecasting, project close out and hand over to asset owners.
* An Engineering degree or equivalent…but we know that a combination of education and relevant experience can be just as good. It will absolutely be considered.
* Experience working in Distribution or Transmission line of business would be an asset.
