Renewables Engineer
Job Type: Full-time Permanent
Location: Tampa, FL. Although Tampa, FL is the preferred location, we will also consider candidates working from Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Lake Mary, FL, Kennesaw, GA, or Birmingham, AL offices

The Renewables Engineer will assist in the design of permit-ready plan sets for utility-scale Solar PV projects. Plan sets must be code-compliant and adhere to local AHJ/utility requirements as well as customer specifications. The engineer will be responsible for performing electrical calculations as part of the design process. The candidate will also work cross-functionally with other teams/engineers from different disciplines to complete the full permit package.
Responsibilities (including but are not limited to)
- Figure out the overall system layout including module/array locations, conduit, and access paths, as well as other equipment locations.
- Design the electrical portion of the PV System from module-level all the way to the inverter including the single-line and three-line diagrams.
- Perform engineering calculations such as voltage drop, minimum and maximum voltages, optimal string length, etc.
- Delegate drafting tasks to civil/electrical drafters as needed.
- Work closely with other discipline engineers such as civil and structural engineers and interconnection engineers and provide assistance as necessary.
- Make corrections as requested by the client and/or AHJs and update the plans as necessary.
- Assist with the permitting process.
- Create a BOM and assist clients with technical aspects during material procurement.
- Visit the site for project assessment or information gathering.
- Build close relationships with clients, vendors, and consultants and provide excellent customer service.
- Provide technical support to the business development team in bidding new projects and help with proposals.
Required Qualifications / skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Renewables, Electrical, or Energy Engineering preferred), with 4 years of professional work experience. Willing to consider new graduates or those with less experience for lower-level opportunities as well.
- Working knowledge of NEC (National Electric Code).
- Able to do wire and conduit sizing, voltage drop calculations, etc.
- Working knowledge of electrical equipment such as combiner boxes, inverters, transformers, etc.
- Must be detail-oriented and be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Must be a team player, self-starter, and take initiative.
- Must have excellent interpersonal as well as written and verbal communication skills.

- Ability to pass a pre-employment and random drug and alcohol screenings, background checks, and annual motor vehicle record (MVR) according to company and client policies.
