Job Title: Construction Manager
Location: Revelstoke, BC (occasional travel to Southern Interior West & BC Hydro Edmonds)
Estimated Start Date: November 3, 2025
Estimated End Date: October 30, 2026
Standard Hours Per Day: 7.5
Estimated Work Days: 260
Shift: 5 days on / 2 off (may transition to 4 days on / 3 off)
Bill Rate: Up to $117.62/hour (INC) or $97.21/hour (T4)
Travel: Required occasionally (expenses paid per contractor policy with prior approval)
Note: No FIFO or mileage will be paid.
Overview
BC Hydro is seeking an experienced Construction Manager (Level 3) to lead the construction of large, complex hydroelectric projects within the Revelstoke portfolio. The successful candidate will manage multimillion-dollar contracts, oversee construction activities, ensure compliance with safety and quality standards, and deliver projects safely, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities

Lead the construction and installation of large-scale hydroelectric projects and programs with high complexity and diverse scope.

Manage allocation of materials, finances, and human resources to ensure project delivery within scope, schedule, and budget.

Administer multimillion-dollar contracts, including negotiation of contract changes, evaluation of claims, and verification of payment documentation.

Supervise and manage small teams of contracted Construction Officers, providing mentorship and technical direction.

Ensure safety and compliance on-site by performing and reviewing Safe Work Observations, applying expert knowledge of WorkSafe BC and Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) regulations.

Develop and implement risk mitigation plans addressing safety, environmental, reputational, and Indigenous relations risks.

Lead stakeholder engagement and public consultation related to construction activities to support successful project delivery.

Support project teams by assisting with claims management, technical reviews, and facilitating cross-functional collaboration.

Act as a subject matter expert to provide guidance on construction methodologies, estimating, and contract management practices.
Projects in Scope
The Construction Manager will primarily support the Revelstoke portfolio, which includes:

Replacement of 500 kV transformers

Replacement and modernization of control systems

Installation of instrumentation at St. Cyr Slide

Installation of Revelstoke Unit 6
-
Installation of fibre optic cable between Revelstoke and Mica Creek
-
Additional upgrades at Walter Hardman and Whatshan Generating Stations (Southern Interior West portfolio)
A second position supporting the Mica Generating Station may be considered.
Must-Have Qualifications

Minimum 15 years of construction management experience, or equivalent.

Minimum 5 years of hydroelectric project experience.

Proven experience managing multimillion-dollar construction and equipment installation contracts.

Strong background in contract administration, including negotiating changes and evaluating claims.

Minimum 5 years of leadership/people management experience (managing teams of Construction Officers or similar).

Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
Nice-to-Have Qualifications

Working knowledge of project management principles and practices.

Excellent understanding of safety standards and regulations (OSH Standards, WorkSafe BC).
