Job Overview
The Design Team Leader will be coordinating the development of technical deliverables for the planned Small Modular Reactor (SMR).
This will be done as a combination of in house Design work as well as setting direction and accepting the deliverables of contracted Design Agencies.
This will involve determining scope requirements, reviewing contractor bids, commenting and accepting on external design submissions on behalf of OPG, coordinating the involvement of Subject Matter Experts, and eventually assisting with the development of detailed design packages and field changes during execution of field work.
Examples of projects the worker may be assigned to are; progressing development of an intake/outfall structure, and progressing the development of the new SMR switchyard.
Responsible for the coordination of multiple technical stakeholders and act as a representative of DNNP Engineering is desired.
This role will involve interacting with vendors, developers, environmental stakeholders, design agencies, internal OPG design groups, among others.
In essence this role requires an Engineer who can help determine WHAT it is that is required for the project, HOW we can acquire it, and is able to follow through to see that we get what is needed in an efficient manner that allows the SMR to be developed successfully.
Qualifications
A variety of Design experience is preferred.
All candidates should have a P. Eng. Junior candidates may be considered as long as they are eligible for P.Eng. (registered EIT)
Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
Competent in the use of Microsoft platform (excel, Word, Power Point, power apps, power BI etc.)
The successful candidate must be agile and thrive in a forever changing work environment.
Civil and Electrical Engineering disciplines are preferred.
Experience coordinating the work of Design Agencies is an asset.
Construction experience is an asset.
Familiarity with the Engineering Change Control Process.
