Work Assignment Overview: Management, tracking and coordination of innovation projects. Including project management, vendor management, procurement administration, data analysis and market research.

Experience and Role Accountabilities
• A minimum five (5) years of project management experience or equivalent.
• Plan, direct, and report on infrastructure and other construction project activities by consistently monitoring project benefits, resources and status and creating documents such as project plans, action logs, communication plans, status reports and post implementation reviews so that the project is implemented as planned.
• Develop project plans and risk management plans for low to medium risk infrastructure or other construction projects with a capital cost that is generally up to $20 million for effective management throughout the project lifecycle.
• Manage multiple activities effectively such as quality assurance, engineering, First Nations and stakeholder engagement, communication, regulatory approvals, procurement, planning and controls, construction management, pre-commissioning, employee relations, and safety by using project management principles in monitoring progress and establishing standards for implementation to keep the project within allotted time and budget.
• Complete project management activities including scoping, planning, managing, monitoring, and reporting on project tasks by using intermediate skills in Microsoft Office as well as project management programs to fulfill BC Hydro’s business needs.
• Maintain meaningful relationships with stakeholders including customers, engineers and field crews through regular communication using excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills enabling timely progression of projects.
Education and Skills
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Economics or related discipline
• Bachelor’s degree Engineering, an asset
• Project Management Professional (PMP®) designation, preferred
• Intermediate MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project)
• Advanced English skills for professional environment, written and spoken
This role will be working on projects related to;
1. The testing of new energy management technologies, at customer sites or in lab/pilot plant settings.
2. Energy management trials and demonstration projects at customer sites.
What you'll do:
As a Innovation project manager, this role will support the innovation team by delivering new technology; Trials, Pilots, Demonstrations and Research.
This includes but is not limited to new energy management products and services. The position will support multiple program managers on larger projects and independently manage trials, pilots and research projects
The successful candidate will have experience in project management, program/product development and the management of multiple projects. The candidate will need to work with other product teams to transition trials and testing into new product offerings and new operational initiatives. The role will require abilities in working in cross-functional teams, and external stakeholder/vendor relationship management.
The position will be results-oriented, have an exceptional customer centric orientation, and take a practical and creative approach to effectively resolve problems. The position will directly support the implementation of new technology; trials, demonstrations and testing utilizing best practices in research, analytics, data analysis and research design.
The successful candidate will:
* Support the Innovation team to manage and deliver technology trials and demonstrations across multiple customer segments.
* Ensure that any data collected during trials is complete and provide some analysis, screening and quality control on trial and pilot data collection.
* Perform market research and customer feedback research for trials and pilots
* Perform vendor management, contract management and procurement activities related to innovation trials and pilots.
* Manage the recruitment of customer sites for trials and pilots, through direct and indirect recruitment methods. Using BC Hydro Communication channels as well as leveraging external agencies, stakeholders and their networks.
* Monitor the project progress, schedule, and financials to ensure projects remain on track and within budget.
* Run regular and ad hoc project update meetings and design workshops to ensure regular communication amongst program stakeholders.
Must haves:
• Excellent project management skills
• Required to occasionally travel to BC Hydro facilities, supplier and customer locations.
• Be customer focused – assisting and coaching our customers as they explore concepts, opportunities and implement innovation projects.
• Personal interest or passion for new technology, energy conservation and sustainable energy developments.
• Be a team player and have exceptional interpersonal skills.
