Role Summary:
Our team is designing, developing, and implementing processes for the next generation of nuclear fuel. This work will begin in our pre-production development facility where we will develop and prove processes before moving them into the production facility. We are assembling a team of Engineers and Technicians with expertise in manufacturing process development, mechanical design and fabrication, electrical design, controls and automation, instrumentation, and software development. Team members will be responsible for multiple technical processes and equipment projects ranging from manual stations, automated stations, inspection systems to fully integrated manufacturing lines.

- Mechanical design engineer responsible for manufacturing processes including process development and definition. Provide and innovative solutions to ensure robust, compliant, efficient design for new manufacturing capability.
- Working with the team:
- Understand the product design requirements and brainstorm manufacturing solutions.
- Develop conceptual designs and test plans
- Design and build test systems to validate design concepts
- Develop material and participate in process design reviews
- Develop detailed models and drawings of equipment designs
- Support identification of vendors procurement activities
- Interface with product designers on design for manufacturing
- Assemble, install, and test processing equipment in the pre-production development space
- Execute test plans that demonstrate performance

Qualifications
- 4 year technical degree in engineering, or equivalent technical discipline from an accredited university or associates degree (e.g. Engineering Technology, Machining, Tool and Die) and demonstrated experience
- 10 years of experience with technical engineering work scope
- 5 years of experience in industrial process design or equipment design
- 2 years of experience in nuclear fuel fabrication, nuclear operations or other regulated industry.
Desired Characteristics
- Demonstrated experience in equipment design in a high consequence, high value production environment.
- Strong skills in computer-aided design (CAD) software such as Inventor, SolidWorks, or CATIA.
- Understanding of mechanical systems, including materials, mechanics, and structures.
- Ability to create detailed technical drawings and schematics for equipment and mechanical components
- Capability to analyze problems and develop innovative solutions to improve equipment performance and reliability.
- Familiarity with prototyping techniques and conducting tests to validate designs.
- Understanding of various manufacturing processes such as machining, casting, and additive manufacturing.
- Ability to manage projects effectively, including planning, scheduling, and coordinating tasks.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams, convey design concepts, and present findings.
- Precision and attention to detail to ensure accuracy in design specifications and manufacturing processes.
- Capability to work independently on design tasks as well as collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Willingness to stay updated with advancements in technology, industry standards, and best practices in mechanical design.
- Familiar with operation, troubleshooting and application of industrial equipment and processes such as resistance pressure welders, motors, valves, gears, mixing,
heating, cooling, chemical reactions, furnaces, heat exchangers, hoods, vibrators,
hydraulics etc. - Experience with manufacturing equipment design, specification, requisitioning, testing and installation, including management of capital and expense projects.
- Experience with NRC Regulations, Process Safety Management (PSM), Process
Hazards Analysis (PHA) or Integrated Safety Analysis (ISA). - Proficiency with PC and productivity software [examples include MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint]
- Strong interpersonal and technical leadership skills.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma Certification
