Job Title: PAYMASTER
Location: Pointe-Claire, QC
Employment Type: Full-Time/Permanent
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Preparation and processing of bi-weekly Canadian payroll for 450+ hourly and salary employees;
- Co-ordinate efforts between payroll, HR and other departments to ensure proper flow and maintenance of employee records, pay period files in written and electronic formats for the purpose of providing an up-to-date reference and audit trail for compliance with government agencies and fiscal Year end Audit;
- Administration of the electronic timekeeping systems;
- Prepare reports and variances explanations for final approval;
- Prepare reports for month end journal entry and participate in reconciliation of general ledger with regard to payroll transactions;
- Review and ensure, records of employment and tax remittances are submitted according to schedule and tax agency requirements (federal, provincial);
- Process and monitor garnishment orders and other issues that impact payroll specifications;
- Co-ordinate payments for CSST files when necessary;
- Co-ordinate and administer benefits, including RRSP contributions & group insurance plans;
- Perform data analysis and verification, prepare reports and models for the payroll team;
- Prepare and administer the end of fiscal & calendar year process for the different companies. Employee tax slips/forms and submit government filings;
- Serves as a departmental expert for payroll and timekeeping policies & best practices;
- Understanding and keeping current on Canadian payroll legislations;
- Ensure payroll is error-free by carefully checking work according to established standards; Investigate and correct payroll errors where necessary;
- Provide excellent customer service to Team Members by responding to general inquiries regarding payroll and benefit information;
- Special projects as needed.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
- 5 to 7 years of payroll processing for employees in Canada;
- Certification from the Canadian Payroll Associations;
- Proficient computer skills with Word, Excel, and Outlook;
- Knowledge of accounting processes and advanced analytical skills;
- Strong attention to detail, with ability to process large volumes of data;
- Personal integrity when working with personal and sensitive information;
- Superior problem solving, analytical and reconciliation skills;
- Must have good multitasking and organizational skills;
- Experience working with payroll systems (Ultipro/Desjardins and/or Kronos experience is an asset);
- SAP Business One knowledge is an asset;
- Strong interpersonal & communication skills (verbal and written);
- Bilingual (French/English)
