Join Our Team as an Aircraft Flight Dynamics Simulation Engineer
Are you passionate about aviation, advanced air mobility, and the future of transportation? We're seeking a dynamic individual to fill the role of Aircraft Flight Dynamics Simulation Engineer. This position is pivotal in shaping the future of aircraft simulation and autonomous air-taxi operations.
What You'll Be Doing
As a key player in our team, you'll have the opportunity to:
- Lead the design and development of advanced simulations for various applications, from single- and multi-agent scenarios for complex algorithm development to operator/‘pilot’ training.
- Develop, validate, and deploy cutting-edge simulation capabilities related to aircraft flight dynamics, including flight mechanics, flight controls, GNC, and aerodynamics.
- Foster expertise within our department in flight dynamics disciplines and the simulation of flight dynamics.
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to identify simulation system requirements, plan milestones, and deliver crucial tools/capabilities to support product development.
- Drive end-to-end simulation development efforts to support our long-term vision of autonomous air-taxi ConOps.
- Work in agile teams to manage the development backlog and ensure that the needs of internal groups and IPTs are met.
- Define and meet long-term simulation requirements, including certification aspects of the simulation platform.
Your Qualifications
To excel in this role, you'll need:
- A bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline with over 10 years of relevant experience.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in simulating aircraft flight dynamics, aerodynamics, flight controls, and GNC, preferably in a real-time simulation environment.
- Proficiency with ARINC 429 and/or ARINC 664.
- Experience with Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) and System-In-the-Loop (SIL) simulations and test environments.
- Familiarity with aircraft avionics, aircraft systems, and aircraft operations.
- Strong skills in C/C++ and Python.
- Outstanding software architecture design and development capabilities.
- A creative approach to problem-solving.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.
Desired Skills and Experience
While not required, the following skills and experiences are a definite plus:
- A genuine passion for aviation and advanced air mobility.
- The ability to thrive in a dynamic environment with changing needs and requirements.
- Familiarity with cloud technologies (GCP, AWS, Azure).
- Proficiency in Matlab/Simulink, C#, or Java.
- Previous experience in designing aircraft systems.
- Knowledge of ARINC 708, ARINC 615, ARINC 610, MIL-STD-1553, MIL-STD-1760, or CAN bus.
- Past involvement in developing embedded avionics software.
- Experience with certification standards like DO-178, DO-254, or similar.
- Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Model-Based Design (MBD) tools and methodologies.
- Previous work on the design, development, testing, and certification of Flight Simulation Training Devices (FSTDs).
- Experience as an Integration Specialist on FSTDs.
- Knowledge of FAR Part 60 (FAA) or equivalent regulations.
- Prior leadership and/or management experience.
- Past involvement in project/program engineering and management.
