General Description
* Responsible for the successful completion of medium to high risk and highly complex infrastructure or other construction projects by leading cross-functional, multi-disciplinary teams through project activities so that projects are successfully completed safely, with quality, within budget, and on time. Experience and Role Accountabilities
* A minimum nine (9) years of project management experience or equivalent.
* Plan, direct, and report on infrastructure and other construction project activities by consistently monitoring project benefits, resources and status and creating documents such as project plans, action logs, communication plans, status reports and post implementation reviews so that the project is implemented as planned.
* Develop project plans and risk management plans for medium to high risk and highly complex infrastructure or other construction projects with a capital cost that is generally up to $50 million for effective management throughout the project lifecycle.
* Manage multiple activities effectively such as quality assurance, engineering, First Nations and stakeholder engagement, communication, regulatory approvals, procurement, planning and controls, construction management, pre-commissioning, employee relations, and safety by using project management principles in monitoring progress and establishing standards for implementation to keep the project within allotted time and budget.
* Complete project management activities including scoping, planning, managing, monitoring, and reporting on project tasks by using advanced skills in Microsoft Office as well as project management programs to fulfill BC Hydro's business needs.
* Maintain meaningful relationships with stakeholders including customers, engineers and field crews through regular communication using excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills enabling timely progression of projects.
* Establish standards for implementation and monitoring using excellent analytical skills and a comprehensive knowledge of project management practices and procedures to optimize project resources.
Education and Skills
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Economics or related discipline
* Bachelor's degree Engineering, an asset
* Project Management Professional (PMP®) designation, preferred
* Advanced MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project) * Advanced English skills for professional environment, written and spoken
Work Package Manager Distribution Automation & Shared Assets in Project and Contract Management (PCM). The successful candidate will be responsible for a portfolio of capital pilot programs under Future Grid Modernization.
* Responsible for development and deployment of pilot programs as per scope, schedule and cost provided by Integrated Planning.
* Responsible for process development (standards, engineering, design, material logistics, construction) and contract management.
* Responsible for cost tracking and unit cost analysis.
* Responsible for asset communication (SCADA-enabled), inspection, testing, evaluation, DAD digitization and IT requirements, as required.
* Foster strong relationships and high levels of engagement with Integrated Planning, Standards, Distribution Engineering and Design, Operations, Procurement, Materials Management, external stakeholders including 3rd party vendors.
* Work with stakeholders and delivery partners to develop program requirements, procedures and pilot deployment plan (work delivery planning).
* Facilitate Bi-weekly or monthly progress meetings with stakeholders.
* Support delivery partners and address concerns or issues (as needed) and manage risks.
* Report on pilot program progress (monthly scorecard, IP, Program Manager).
Qualifications
* Technical knowledge in a specific field (ex. Engineering, Technical, Trade, Business or Sciences) with some general knowledge of other fields.
* An Engineering degree or equivalent would be considered an asset. A combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
* Five (5) - ten (10) years of Project Management experience within electric utility, engineering firm, construction contractor or similar environment.
* The successful candidate must have a keen grasp of project and program management, various delivery models, and contracting strategies.
* Project Management Institute (PMI) certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent.
* Strong program / project management skills, strong relationship, facilitation and management skills and the ability to work in an unstructured environment with senior management and subject matter experts.
* Must be able to effectively manage multi-discipline program teams and oversee external contractors.
* A strong knowledge of BCH's business and the energy market is essential.
* Well-developed communication, facilitation, negotiation and interpersonal skills along with demonstrating planning, organizational, analytical and problem solving skills.
