Job Overview
- Requires maintaining Darlington Refurbishment engineering program management plan and functional management plan. These plans explain how the engineering work will be managed in the Darlington Refurbishment project. Oversighting and performing various Self Assessments to improve engineering performance. In particular, this role will require supporting the electronic Issue Tracking File (eITF) initiative (to automate issue tracking files) including spearheading improvements to the EBX database to improve overall user experience and make the process more efficient. Role will require collaboration and integration between Darlington Refurbishment Engineering and Refurbishment Projects. Supporting initiatives that improve Refurbishment Engineering performance (including but not limited to improving / oversighting quality engineering metrics and reviewing SCR data and Observation & Coaching data). This role also will require oversighting the assistant officer and new engineer which recently joined.
- To perform this role familiarity with OPG, overall Refurbishment project, Engineering in general and the OPG modification process from design requirements, preliminary and detailed design packages through to the available for service commissioning is required. This group requires individuals who are strong in identifying areas for improvement and oversight of various initiatives to continuously improve performance (i.e., safety, quality, cost and schedule) related to the Refurbishment Engineering work. We require individuals who are organized and always looking for more efficient ways to perform activities. The role includes assessing aspects of engineering, communicating with various organizations, etc.
Qualifications
- Requires a knowledge of engineering, quality, physics, chemistry, metallurgy, mathematics, electricity, and/or economics to technically understand the operation of the facility.
- Requires advanced knowledge of one or more of these subjects to evaluate and propose improvements to processes, equipment and systems or to unit safety, reliability and performance.
- Requires a knowledge of English in order to prepare clear and concise reports and recommendations both verbally and in writing.
- This knowledge is considered to be normally acquired through the successful completion of a four-year university education in an appropriate engineering field or by having the equivalent level of education.
- Requires training and experience in the design, development or operation of a nuclear facility or in an industrial environment associated with the design, development, operation or maintenance of industrial systems and equipment.
- Requires experience to solve problems, to provide advice and guidance, to initiate developmental studies and to make recommendations during the design, commissioning and operation of a nuclear facility; to evaluate components or materials, and to perform quality studies and evaluations associated with the design, commissioning and operation of a nuclear facility.
- Requires further experience in the position to become familiar with the work and become fully competent.
- A period of over 6 years and up to and including 8 years is considered necessary to gain this experience.
