Location: Burnaby, BC
The resource will need to comply with the BCH hybrid model and work from the Edmonds office at a minimum 3 days/week when restrictions lift. High possibility of extension.
Rate: $29 - $35/hour
General Description
* The Drafter Level 1 creates and revises drawings, using computer aided drafting applications to support the engineering team throughout the project lifecycle.
Experience and Role Accountabilities
* A minimum two (2) years of drafting experience or equivalent.
* Create and revise drawings clearly by calculating dimensions, elevations, slopes, actual scale, and using appropriate design layout for the engineering team.
* Complete technical drafting-related tasks by producing associated graphs, maps, diagrams, and profiles and by preparing materials and drawing lists, following applicable engineering standards.
* Organize and maintain drawings by using a drawing management system to ensure security and accessibility.
Education and Skills
* Diploma in drafting or equivalent
* Advanced computer aided design and drafting skills
Additional Experience and Role Accountabilities
* All the required Experience and Role Accountabilities shall relate to AutoCAD drafting work experience.
* Support the creation and revision of engineering drawings associated with civil engineering works for BC Hydro Distribution System projects.
* Use a variety of computer-aided drafting (CAD) applications to depict work in two and three dimensions and manage drawings using a computerized drawing records management system.
* Use drawings for site preparations and layouts, building construction, and electrical infrastructure design and installation including details of equipment, assemblies, and components.
* Produce associated graphs, colour drawings, maps, diagrams, elevation and profile work, operate drawings, crossing permit and right-of-way permit drawings.
* Create customized drawings for non-standard engineering and design projects.
* Perform work according to Distribution CAD standards, Distribution Design and Distribution Engineering Standards, all utility, and city/municipality standards and requirements.
* Perform calculations to determine dimensions, elevations and slopes, actual scale, base loads, sag, quantities of materials and components, acceptable clearances, and design layout.
Additional Education and Skills
* Experience doing computer aided drafting for a utility or a similar industry
* Successful completion or working towards the completion of the introductory course - BC Hydro Electrical System
