Job Title: Distribution Intermediate Civil Geotechnical Engineer
Location: Burnaby - Edmonds office
Work Duration: 6 months

Standard Hours Per Day: 7.50
Estimated Work Days: 115.00
Max Bill Rate: T4 $65 per hour / INC $78 per hour
Role Overview:
The Distribution Intermediate Civil Geotechnical Engineer is responsible for underground and overhead civil-geotechnical detailed design, assessment, and construction phase support, including response to weather-related geotechnical issues.
Experience and Responsibilities:
- Minimum 4 years of relevant engineering experience.
- Develop safe engineering solutions for low to medium complexity projects.
- Assist in meeting safety, cost, quality, and time objectives.
- Participate in engineering practice and conduct independent studies and analysis.
- Perform periodic tasks independently, including on-site construction quality control.
- Engage with senior engineering team on difficult or complex engineering problems.
Education and Skills:
- University graduate in applied science or engineering.
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) with Engineers & Geoscientists BC.
- Familiarity with CAD systems, standard industry design/analysis software, and intermediate MS Office skills.
Role Specialty:
Geotechnical - General: Thorough understanding and experience in design, assessment, and mitigation of site conditions related to Distribution plant, including underground and overhead structures.
Work Assignment Requirements:
- Minimum 4 years as a geotechnical engineer in British Columbia.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Thorough knowledge and experience in design and assessment related to Distribution plant.
- Familiarity with industry standards, codes, and design requirements.
- Ability to work independently with minimal interaction.
- Comfortable with remote working technologies.
- Must be willing to travel, including by car, plane, and boat.
- Preferred experience with Canadian electric utility and temporary shoring methods.
Qualification Requirements:
- Registered P.Eng. in good standing with EGBC.
- Current confined space entry training.
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver License.
Other Notes:
- Prior to commencement, the candidate must have their own Permit to Practice with EGBC.
- The candidate will work under a Professional Practice Management Plan.
- Retention and preservation of project documentation produced by the candidate will be retained by the client.
