Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in heat transfer or moderator systems to support our operations at Bruce Power. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in optimizing and maintaining the efficiency and safety of our nuclear power generation systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, analyze, and optimize heat transfer systems and components used in nuclear power generation.
- Develop and implement solutions for thermal management, including cooling systems and heat exchangers.
- Conduct performance analysis and troubleshooting of moderator systems to ensure optimal functionality.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to improve plant performance and safety.
- Perform detailed engineering calculations and simulations related to heat transfer and fluid dynamics.
- Assist in the development and review of technical specifications, reports, and documentation.
- Participate in safety reviews and risk assessments to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Provide technical support during commissioning, maintenance, and operational activities.
- Stay updated on the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in heat transfer and moderator systems.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience with CANDU reactors or other nuclear reactor types.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation in Ontario, or eligibility to obtain.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in heat transfer, thermal systems, or moderator systems, preferably within the nuclear or energy sector.
- Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer principles.
- Experience with nuclear reactor systems and safety protocols is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of industry codes and standards (e.g., ASME, CSA).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
