Metallic and Composites Structures Stress Specialist
Your role as a Stress Specialist (Metallic and Composites Structures) will be to prepare, check or approve stress analyses for repair solution development on multiple composites or metallic structures on the entire commercial aircraft fleet in service all over the world.
You will be part of a team that is based in Montreal (Quebec), responsible for analyzing damage reports and approving repair solutions from a structural strength standpoint in conformance with pertinent certification requirements for all structural components and/or assemblies of the aircraft fleet in service.
Responsibilities
- Interact with a multidisciplinary team in the development of structural repair solutions.
- Perform static strength and durability analyses for specific or generic structural metallic and composite repairs in support to the aircraft fleet.
- Support the completion of various aircraft structural manuals such as Aircraft Structural Repair Publication (ASRP) and Aircraft Maintenance Publication (AMP).
- Prepare or review stress analysis reports covering repairs or allowable damage limits to metallic structures and composites.
- Present generic repair analyses to Transport Canada engineering team for concurrence.
- Ensuring the aircraft safety and airworthiness, reporting all unsafe conditions.
- Coordinating proposed repair solution with other aircraft actors and considering the implications of Airworthiness regulations, Materials and Processes, Aerodynamic effects and any other function as required.
- Promoting and supporting continuous improvement and innovation initiatives of the Daily Repairs organization through selected projects, providing added value to the aircraft operator.
- Delivering repair instructions in accordance with the relevant certification/airworthiness requirements and internal process and methods.
Proven Ability / Key Skills
- Bachelor degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with a minimum of 8 years experience in stress analysis within the aerospace industry.
- Good knowledge of aircraft metallic and composite structure stress analysis.
- Proven ability in certification of aircraft composite primary structures.
- Knowledge in interrogating aircraft structure repair drawings (CATIA V5 is an asset).
- Good understanding of applicable airworthiness regulations.
- Knowledge of customer operations, product integrity/liability and maintenance operation is desirable.
