Education and Skills
Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) with Engineers & Geoscientists BC or with another jurisdiction and eligible for registration as such with Engineers & Geoscientists BC
Additional Education and Skills
• Ability to provide technical directions to junior engineers
• Ability to manage design tasks including scope, schedule and cost
• Ability to find engineering solutions that add value and to reach consensus
• Ability to communicate efficiently including verbal and technical writing in the English language, analytical, interpersonal communications and presentation skills
• Experience in project management including estimating, cost control and project administration
The Stations Equipment groups require equipment engineers with knowledge in, air insulated, medium voltage (2.4kV to 69kV) substation switchgear and reactive equipment to support their replacement programs.
Duties include:
1) Review system requirements and select suitable equipment.
2) Conduct site visits and complete site reports.
4) Complete material requests for new equipment.
5) Complete drawings reviews for new equipment.
6) Provide engineering support during install work.
7) Review test results from pre and post testing work.
8) Review field delegation report to check work is done satisfactory.
9) Signing off on TRCS for safe energization.
10) Outline any deficiencies.
11) Share information amongst team in particular any lessons learned.
Important notes:
• Prior to commencement on assignment, the selected candidate must have their own sole practitioner, or the use of their firm’s, Permit to Practice with EGBC.
• EGBC Registrants provided to BC Hydro through this assignment shall work under BC Hydro’s Professional Practice Management Plan, Quality Management Pillar. The Registrant shall apply their own or their firm’s Permit to Practice Number to work that is Sealed by the Registrant. Retention and preservation of all project documentation produced by the Registrant during their contract with BC Hydro will be retained by BC Hydro to satisfy EGBC Bylaws.
